Ford Edge — mid-size five-seater crossover with all-wheel drive. The second generation of the model was introduced in 2014, and the car in European specification was shown in 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Built on the same platform (Ford CD4) with Ford Mondeo, Ford S-Max and Lincoln MKZ. Positioned in the market as a competitor to all-terrain vehicles Audi Q5, BMW X3 And Volvo XC60. Ford Edge has been on sale in Ukraine since mid-2016.
In the Blue Oval lineup, the Ford Edge sits a notch above the popular crossover. Ford Kuga. Trunk volume in the standard configuration of the seats is 602 liters, but with the second row backs folded down, it increases to 1847 liters. The Ford Edge ground clearance declared by the manufacturer is 203 mm (actually less than a few centimeters due to the protruding crankcase), the approach and exit angles are 18.8 and 22.4 degrees, respectively. At the same time, the paintwork of the lower part of the body is protected from minor damage by overlays of unpainted plastic on the thresholds and bumpers.
Interior design Ford Edge is designed in the same style as other models of the American brand, such as the Mondeo and Kuga. However, the configuration of the center console and the tunnel between the front seats of the Edge is original. The interior trim is dominated by soft plastic, while the steering wheel, gear selector and door cards are finished in leather.
The main difference between the European Ford Edge and its overseas counterpart lies in the engine range. If in North America the main focus is on the EcoBoost 2.0L turbo four (245 hp), then cars with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel in modifications of 180 and 210 hp are delivered to the Old World. The initial unit is combined with a six-speed “mechanics”, and a more efficient engine is combined with a six-band “robot” PowerShift with two clutches.
In Ukraine, the crossover is presented with a 210-horsepower power unit and a robotic gearbox. Fuel consumption per 100 kilometers according to the passport is 6.4 liters in the city, 5.4 liters in the suburban and 5.8 liters in the combined cycle. Acceleration 0-100 km / h takes the Ford Edge 9.4 seconds, and a top speed of 211 km / h.
The Ford Edge is available in Titanium and Lux trims. By default, the Electronic Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Hill Start Assist and Electromechanical Parking Brake are installed. In addition, the list of equipment includes front airbags for the driver and passenger, side airbags, curtain airbags (front and rear), as well as a driver's knee airbag. Also installed by default are climate control, cruise control, a follow me home headlight turn-off delay function, automatically folding side mirrors with electric adjustment and heating, a start / stop system, heated front seats, rain and light sensors, LED headlights and other equipment. The main difference between the Lux configuration is leather seats, heated rear seats, a front and rear view camera, and an active parking assistance system.
