Ford Mondeo MkV D-class sedan sold in the US under the name Fusion. The premiere of the fifth generation took place in January 2012 at the Detroit Auto Show. In September of the same year, the first details about the European version were announced, the start of production of which was postponed from the beginning of summer 2013 to the end of autumn 2014 due to the closure of the Ford Motor plant in Belgium. In addition to the four-door version, there are hatchback and a generalist. 

When developing the new Mondeo, Ford focused on a spectacular design with a radiator grill a la Aston Martin, narrow headlights with dynamic turn indicators, embossed stampings, elegant mirrors and a coupe-like profile. The model is based on the new Ford CD4 platform. The front suspension scheme with MacPherson struts was preserved, and a new Integral Link multi-link appeared at the rear. In addition, the Mondeo debuted a system of electromechanical power steering (Electric Power Assisted Steering).

The length of the Mondeo has added a few centimeters, but the wheelbase has not changed with the change of generations - 2850 mm. The volume of the trunk of the sedan was 516 liters with a small spare wheel and 525 liters with a repair kit. For comparison, the sedan Volkswagen Passat B8 the trunk holds 586 liters, and Mazda6 - 480 l.

Ford Mondeo is equipped with EcoBoost petrol turbo engines of 1.0 l (125 hp), 1.5 l (160 hp) and 2.0 l (203 and 240 hp). The diesel line is represented by Duratorq turbo engines with a volume of 1.5 l (120 hp), 2.0 l (150, 180 and 210 hp). Gearboxes: 6-speed "mechanics" and "automatic", as well as a 6-band "robot" PowerShift with dual clutch. The drive is front or full with an electronically controlled clutch (only for a 180-horsepower diesel engine).

The Ford Mondeo sedan is also available in a front-wheel drive hybrid version. The power plant consists of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, an electric motor with an energy recovery system during braking, a traction battery with a capacity of 1.4 kWh, and a variator. Power Mondeo Hybrid - 187 hp, maximum torque - 173 Nm. Acceleration 0-100 km / h takes 9.2 seconds, and the maximum speed is 187 hp. Fuel consumption according to the "passport": 2.9 l / 100 km in the city, 4.7 l / 100 km in the extra-urban and 4.0 l / 100 km in the combined cycle.
