Description Ford Puma

Ford Puma — compact front-wheel drive crossover on a reinforced and modified platform Ford Fiesta. Introduced in June 2019.

The new Puma crossover differs from the related Fiesta, first of all, in a different design direction, increased body size and ground clearance. The car received a stiffer semi-independent rear suspension beam, reinforced lever attachment points, as well as other springs and shock absorbers.

The interior of the Ford Puma is designed in the same style as modern Fords, starting with a stand-alone touch-screen multimedia system display and shaping the door panels, but at the same time it is not without some original solutions. For example, the front seats can be equipped with a massager for the lumbar region of the back, and branded covers with zippers can also be ordered for them. A 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a panoramic sunroof are also optional.

One of the advantages of the Ford Puma is a roomy trunk that holds 456 liters. Its highlight was the 80-liter MegaBox compartment in the underground, where you can put dirty and wet things. It can even be washed with a hose because the compartment is insulated and has a drain hole. The "shelf" of the trunk is fixed on the fifth door and rises with it, without restricting the view into the cabin, and the door itself in rich trim levels is equipped with an electric drive.

The base engine is a three-cylinder 1.0 EcoBoost that develops 125 hp. and can turn off one cylinder at low loads. But in Europe, the Ford Puma is also offered with a "mild" hybrid powertrain, in which such an internal combustion engine is equipped with a larger turbocharger and is complemented by a 48-volt BISG belt-driven starter generator that produces 16 hp. and 50 Nm of torque. The electric motor assists with acceleration and works as part of the Start/Stop system. The return of the gasoline engine as part of a hybrid installation is 125 or 155 hp. The electric motor is powered by a small liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery.

The first "Puma" will receive a six-speed "mechanics". Also, the models are promised versions with a seven-speed preselective “robot” and diesel modifications.

The list of model options includes the CoPilot360 electronic complex, which consists of 3 radars, 2 cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors. It combines the functions of adaptive cruise control and lane keeping system. There is also a rear-view camera with a wide-angle lens, a blind spot monitoring system, a car park and a Wrong Way Alert system that recognizes prohibition signs.

The Ford Puma is produced at the Ford Motor Company plant in Romania.
