Ford Kuga 2013 - compared to the first generation model, which debuted in 2008, the new generation of the crossover has noticeably increased in size - by 90 mm in length and 24 mm in height. The clearance and trunk volume have grown, which are now 198 mm and 456 liters (can be increased to 1,653 liters). At the same time, by ordering an additional sensor and an automatic drive, the tailgate can be opened simply by swiping your foot under the rear bumper. The door opening height is easily programmed so that it does not touch, for example, the ceiling of a garage or other room.
The crossover received a new system of automatically connected all-wheel drive Active Torque Coupling. The electronically controlled multi-plate clutch is capable of transmitting up to 50% of the torque to the rear axle. At the same time, it works not only in the event of slipping, but also preventively, for example, during intensive acceleration, driving on slopes, and so on. Locks are simulated by braking the wheels.
The basic modification of the model is a front-wheel drive version, for which a 1.6 EcoBoost gasoline engine (150 hp, 240 Nm) or a 140-horsepower 2-liter diesel engine with a torque of 320 Nm is provided. The standard gearbox for front-wheel drive options is a six-speed “mechanics”.
For more equipped configurations with all-wheel drive, in addition to the 150-horsepower 1.6-liter gasoline engine, its 180-horsepower version is also available. In addition, instead of a diesel engine with 140 hp. you can choose a forced version of the 2-liter unit, which develops 163 hp. The type of gearbox is strictly tied to the type of engine. For gasoline engines, an alternative to “mechanics” is a torque converter automatic, and for diesel engines, a PowerShift “robot” with two clutches. In both the first and second cases, the transmissions are six-speed.
Serial production of Ford Kuga is established in Spain.
